Picture 7 Location: Albuquerque, NM
Next Stop: Austin, Texas (driving 14 hours tomorrow)

Well, we should be sleeping right now but due to two very strong cups of coffee, Bri and I are wide awake. We shot a wedding all day, came home, had a Bollywood dance party, packed.....still not tired. (thus the blog) We drive to Austin tomorrow and shoot a church staff on Sunday, then we'll be in Dallas for a week.

Highlights of today: Bri's dress caught on fire during the wedding ceremony, we scored a really large bag of sliced apples after the wedding, we had a really smooth and awesome day of shooting (the fall colors were spectacular). This is a picture of the bride today (Jenna).

Shalom,

Picture 19 "Do one thing every day that scares you." E. Roosevelt

I'm not a big quote girl, but I like this one and wanted to share it. Bri and are on on the road today for ten hours to New Mexico. It always takes us a little longer to get out of places than expected. It's a good thing we don't have anyone with us that gets annoyed at delays. We are trying to get some prints uploaded to a costco on the road and I'm taking a 90 second break from the other computer because it's being really slow. Have a good day.

Picture 66 Thought of the day: If you're hungry enough, you will go searching for food.
Photo: Brenda was a beautiful bride last weekend!

Late tonight, I was walking into a taco shop and a homeless man at the door stopped me and told me he was hungry. I had $5 and went in and bought two tacos, one for me and one for him. They were pretty hefty, authentic tacos, hot and wrapped in tin foil. When I walked through the door, I handed him his taco and a slight mannerism and feeling I had told me that he was somehow disappointed, at which point I said, "You said you were hungry right?" He took the taco and walked away. I left the store front and wondered if he was really hungry.

Of course you know that I drew some other comparisons to that life experience, involving the human heart, sustenance and motivations but I'm not going to lay them out here. =)

Crazy day of the week: On Friday, we were in Santa Cruz and the plan was to drive to Lancaster, CA that evening. I felt a little sick (and crazy) when time came for us to leave and I had a brilliant idea that we should just rest and then drive to location the next morning. I thought our drive time was a little over 4 hours. WRONG! It was actually 6 and a half hours and we also had to shoot a wedding that day. Departure time? 4:30am! I drove through a crazy fog and listened to my current favorite music and somehow it didn't seem like it six hours. Next came a full work day and by the end of it, I was pretty much a delirious bundle of giggles (which is what happens when I get super-duper crazy tired). So far in our six days on the road, laughter has been a theme.

Favorite moment of the week: A spontaneous sprinting race that happened in the mile long parking lot garage at Disneyland.

True Confession: I have spent way too much time on facebook the last two days...my fingers are an auto pilate for www.facebook.com and I can't go out like that. I also have found a new love, "quad camera", an iphone application.

What I want for you and me today: to love people better.

worship Location: Portland, OR

The site of the aqua green carpet with geometric shapes at the Portland airport last night, brought joy to my soul. My last few days were busy and felt kind of like getting sucked into a hurricane, making me realize how delightfully peaceful my life is. Don't get me wrong, I think my to-do list has the potential of overwhelming most and my life schedule is considered by some to be insane but what I'm trying to say is there is rest in the middle of it.

If there is one thing I will say about believing that a relationship with God is a vital part of human existence, it is the peace that is experienced in heart, mind and soul. I think I forget that it is there sometimes, until I am whisked temporarily into a scenario that involves a lot of unrest. It is seeing the type of anxiety that washes over someone and swirls around their life, wrapping them up in an endless hamster wheel of 'trying' or witnessing the desperate grasping for significance that reminds me of this something precious I have received from God. Not to negate the fact that life is sometimes indescribably hard, confusing and painful but to have an anchor in the middle of insane chaos is awesome. I think God is worth trying to find out about and if found, worth loving.

Picture 4 Location: Bakersfield, CA

Thinking about: charging camera batteries, finishing some downloading, drinking some coffee and going for a walk (that's when I talk on the phone to people I love).

Not thinking about: the other 80 things I have to do! =)

Picture: Karissa Evans. Spring 2009, Texas.

Starting a relationship with: Rosetta Stone. The first couple of days have been awesome!! The only downsize is the awkward headset I have to wear, people see me and ask me if I am working for At&t. One of my goals this year is to work on learning a language, so here I go.

Can't wait: to get back to Portland next week to hang out with my nephews AND to get a new nephew on Saturday! Life is good when kids are involved and even more so when they are related to you. (I'll be back soon sister! xxoo)

Word for the day: bedazzled. Would you believe that I actually looked up the definition of bedazzled today?

Discovery: There is a kind of ghetto music that I have NEVER heard before that must only exist in Bakersfield, CA. I heard it today and was trying to catalog in my mind 'what in the world' kind of music I was hearing---Bakersfield must have its own genre. It was CRAZY.

I have a wedding tomorrow and then will be hanging out for a couple of days in So Cal before flying home for a week. I'm about to go on an insane road trip, so maybe I will resurrect the little video camera and start posting some video blogs. It will probably be a 6000 mile trip. The great news is that it looks like Bri will be coming with me! So excited about that, she is an awesome artist and friend. We might be doing some art shows on the road, as well as an event for teenage girls in Carlsbad, NM---stay posted!

PS: Bedazzled is in the running as the 'theme' word for the 6000 mile trip.

Grace and Peace
